Dolores went into the hospital on a Saturday morning and had Deniese by 5pm. The birth was normal except Dolores was convinced that Deniese was not her child. She definitively told the nurse, "That's not my baby". She asked the nurse to check. Deniese was the only child born with brown eyes and brown hair. It turned out Deniese was in fact her baby. Dennis said, "After 5 kids, I finally got my little Italian." Jerry was 19 and Mary was 18. Jerry was upset that Dennis went to work the day Deniese was born. Mary came home from college for the birth of Deniese. Due to their age and the fact they nearly raised the previous kids, it was as if Deniese was Jerry and Mary's first baby.
