Jerry started kindergarten at Guyton elementary and transferred to St. Martin's for first-8th grade. Delores said Jerry was very social. He joined cub scouts and participated in many sports. Jerry always had a ton of friends. He played baseball and football through school and hockey through a private club. Jerry was a good student, getting mostly 'B's'. Deloris said he could have gotten A's had he tried harder but since it was easy to get B's that was good enough for him. That way he had more time for sports and social activities. He attended Austin Prep for high school. He was president of the class at least one year. Growing up, his dream was to become a professional Hockey player.
